Hackett AC Tune-Up: Two Systems Checked and Cleaned in One Visit

Fall is the sweet spot for a check-up. The summer rush is over, the weather is mild, and there is still time to take care of small problems before the first cold snap. In mid-September, a homeowner in Hackett had us out to tune up both of the cooling systems at their home in a single visit.

Two Systems, One Visit

This home has two different kinds of equipment: a central air conditioner and a ductless mini split. They work differently, but both need the same kind of regular attention. Our technicians went through each system on its own and filled out a separate performance report for each one.

On the central system, the outdoor coil had picked up a layer of grass clippings and debris. The coil is where your air conditioner releases the heat it pulls out of your home, so anything stuck to it makes the whole system work harder.

What We Checked

  • Completed a full tune-up on both the central AC and the mini split.
  • Checked refrigerant pressures with gauges.
  • Checked the electrical side of each system, including motor amp draw.
  • Looked over the thermostat, wiring, coils and airflow.
  • Opened up the outdoor unit and cleaned the debris off the coil.

The Result

Both systems were checked from top to bottom in one visit, and the performance reports did not call for any repairs. That is exactly what you hope to hear from a tune-up. If something does come up down the road, learn more about our AC repair service.

Here is why a visit like this matters: a weak part caught during a tune-up is a quick fix on your schedule. The same part failing during a heat wave or a cold night is an emergency.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • Every system needs its own check. If you have more than one system, including a mini split, each one should be looked at.
  • Watch the grass clippings. Mow so the clippings blow away from the outdoor unit, not into it.
  • Fall is a smart time for maintenance. Mild weather means easier scheduling and time to fix anything before winter.
  • Good news is still worth paying for. A clean report tells you your equipment is ready for the season ahead.
