Cleaner air starts with a clean system. A homeowner in Roland asked us to help the air in their home feel fresher, so in mid-September our technician started where the air actually goes: through the indoor unit. Every bit of air your system moves passes across the indoor coil and through the blower, so that is where buildup does the most harm.
What Our Technician Found
With the indoor unit opened up, the coil had a layer of dust and buildup across its fins, and the blower wheel had dust caked onto its blades. The coil is the part that cools and dries the air. The blower wheel is the fan that pushes air through every room. When both are coated, the system moves less air and works harder to keep up.

What We Completed
- Deep cleaned the indoor evaporator coil and treated it with an antimicrobial coating.
- Removed the blower assembly and cleaned the blower wheel and housing.
- Installed a UV air cleaner on the ductwork.

The UV air cleaner mounts right on the ductwork and runs automatically whenever the system does. There is nothing for the homeowner to turn on or remember.
The Result
The coil cleaning, blower cleaning and UV air cleaner installation were all completed in one visit. The homeowner now has a cleaner indoor unit and an air cleaner that works every time the system runs. For other cooling issues, see our AC repair and service page.
What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job
- Start with the system itself. An air cleaner does the most good when the coil and blower it works with are clean.
- Filters protect the inside of the system. Changing your filter on schedule is the simplest way to keep dust off the coil and blower.
- Fall is a good time to think about indoor air. With the windows closing up for the season, your family will be breathing a lot more indoor air.
- Ask for honest advice. Not every home needs an air cleaner. We will tell you what makes sense for yours and what does not.
