Ductwork Kept Coming Loose in Hackett, AR (Sealed Duct Joint at the Indoor Unit)

Loose duct connections waste cooled or heated air before it ever reaches your rooms. In late September, a Hackett Comfort Club (our maintenance plan) member (we installed their system) had us back because the same ductwork was coming loose again at the air handler (the indoor unit with the fan).

What Our Technician Found

Where the ducts connect to the indoor unit, the joints need a seal that lasts. When those joints open up, the system can pull in air from spaces that are not heated or cooled, or push cooled air where you do not need it. On this follow up visit, our team worked on the seal at that connection and took a photo of the joint sealed with mastic (a thick paste sealant).

What We Completed

  • Came back for a follow up on the ductwork problem that kept coming back.
  • Worked on the seal where the main duct connects to the indoor unit.
  • Took a photo of the joint sealed with mastic.

The Result

A photo from this visit shows the duct connection at the indoor unit sealed with mastic. Ductwork that keeps pulling apart is worth watching, so cooled or heated air keeps reaching the rooms. Learn more about our AC repair service.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • Tape alone often fails. Mastic is the long lasting seal for many duct joints at the indoor unit.
  • Problems that come back need a return visit. Comfort Club members can get that follow up without starting from zero.
  • Leaks at the indoor unit matter a lot. Air lost there is air the whole house does not get.
