Outdoor AC Coil Caked With Dirt in Lavaca, AR (AC Tune-Up)

A Lavaca homeowner got our letter in the mail and booked an AC tune-up online. The system is older and had already needed a few repairs over the years, and the homeowner knew it was due for a good cleaning.

What Our Technician Found

Our technician found the outdoor coil (the metal fins that release heat outside) caked with a thick layer of dirt, and leaves and debris built up in the base of the unit around the compressor. He also hooked up gauges to check the refrigerant (the fluid that carries heat out of your home) and checked the electrical parts.

What We Completed

  • Completed a full AC tune-up.
  • Cleaned the outdoor coil and cleared the debris out of the base.
  • Checked the refrigerant with gauges.
  • Checked the contactor, capacitor and wiring.

The Result

The coil and the base of the unit are clean, and the homeowner joined our Comfort Club (our maintenance plan). Learn more about our AC maintenance.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • A caked coil cannot release heat. The system runs longer and wears out faster.
  • Clear the base of the unit. Leaves trap moisture around the parts.
  • Older systems benefit most from tune-ups. Regular checks help you plan ahead.
