New Heat Pump Installed in Fort Smith, AR (American Standard System)

Sometimes repair is no longer the best path. In late August, a Fort Smith homeowner had us install a new heat pump system with American Standard outdoor and indoor equipment.

What We Installed

The main piece was an American Standard Silver 16 heat pump outdoor unit, paired with a matching American Standard air handler (the indoor unit with the fan). The job also included a new thermostat, a pad for the outdoor unit, the electrical hookup and shutoff switch, an electric backup heat kit for emergencies, safety switches that shut the system off if the drain backs up, control wiring, and a Reme Halo air cleaning device.

What We Completed

  • Installed the new American Standard heat pump and indoor unit.
  • Set the outdoor unit on a new pad and hooked up the power.
  • Installed the thermostat and the drain safety switches.
  • Added emergency backup heat for cold weather.
  • Showed the homeowner how to use the new system.

The Result

The home now has a complete heat pump system for year round comfort, with backup heat ready for River Valley cold snaps. Learn more about our heat pump systems.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • A heat pump is a full system. The outdoor unit, the indoor unit, the controls and the safety switches all have to work together.
  • Backup heat matters here. It helps while the heat pump clears ice off the outdoor unit and on very cold days.
  • Keep your paperwork. Photos and warranty registration help if you ever need parts covered.
