What we found
The homeowner told us the air conditioner froze up overnight. They turned it off and back on, but it still wasn’t blowing cold air.
Alejandro checked the system and found two parts in the outdoor unit that needed replacing: the contactor (the switch that turns the outdoor unit on and off) and the compressor capacitor. The capacitor, the part that gives the compressor (the heart of the outdoor unit) its starting kick, also helps keep it running. When either part fails, the outdoor unit can struggle to start or stop running, and the house stops getting cool air.

The result
