Furnace and AC Due for Replacement in Alma, AR (American Standard Silver System)

This Alma home was ready for a new furnace and air conditioner, so both were replaced at the same time. Seth, Luis and Johan installed a matched American Standard Silver series system, with the furnace in an indoor closet and the air conditioner beside the house.

What We Installed

Indoors, the centerpiece is a new American Standard Silver series gas furnace. It warms the air in winter and powers the fan that pushes air through your vents all year. On top sits a matching indoor coil, the part that pulls heat and moisture out of the air when the AC runs. Outside, a new American Standard Silver series air conditioner carries that heat away from the house. The coil and outdoor unit are designed as a pair.

What We Completed

  • Set the new American Standard gas furnace and matching coil in the indoor closet
  • Installed the new American Standard air conditioner outside
  • Connected the gas line to the new furnace
  • Added a proper holder for the air filter so it is easy to swap out
  • Installed a water safety switch that turns the system off if the drain line ever backs up
  • Mounted an outdoor power shutoff box and ran a new power line to the AC
  • Put in a new, simple thermostat
  • Sealed the gaps around the air vents so more of the heated and cooled air stays in the rooms
  • Finished with a cleaning and a full check of the system

The Result

The home now has a matched furnace and AC for every season, with simple controls, an easy to reach filter and protection against drain backups. See more on our Van Buren AC installation page.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • Your furnace works in summer, too. Its fan moves cooled air from the coil out through the vents, so a healthy furnace matters even when the heat is off.
  • Make filter changes easy. A filter that slides into a proper holder fits better and takes seconds to replace.
  • Gaps around vents waste comfort. Air that slips out around a vent never reaches the room, so the system runs longer.
