Checkup Before Heating Season in Greenwood, AR (New Capacitor, Flame Sensor Cleaned)

Our Comfort Club maintenance plan is meant to catch small problems before they turn into no cooling or no heat calls. In early October, a Comfort Club member in Greenwood had us out for a full system check and safety check. Our technician found two things worth fixing while we were there.

What Our Technician Found

The first was the motor run capacitor (the part that gives the motor its starting kick). It helps the outdoor fan and the compressor (the pump inside the outdoor unit) start and run smoothly. When a capacitor gets weak, the motors work harder and run hotter.

The second was on the furnace. The flame sensor (the safety part that confirms the furnace flame is lit) lets the gas stay on only while the burner is lit. It needed a full cleaning and adjustment of the lighting sequence. That matters as River Valley nights start to cool.

What We Completed

  • Did a full system check and safety check.
  • Replaced the motor run capacitor and checked the wiring connections.
  • Cleaned and adjusted the flame sensor and the furnace lighting sequence.

The Result

With a new capacitor and a cleaned, tested flame sensor, the system is better ready for the end of cooling season and the heating season ahead. Learn more about our AC repair service.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • One visit can catch cooling and heating problems. Fall checkups often find worn electrical parts outside and furnace lighting problems inside in the same trip.
  • Capacitors get weak quietly. You may not notice until a motor struggles to start on a hot or cold day.
  • Flame sensors need attention before winter. A dirty sensor is a common cause of heat that cuts in and out.
