A homeowner in Hackett replaced their old heating and cooling system with an American Standard Gold series heat pump. Luis and Seth installed the new equipment outside and in the indoor closet.
What We Installed
A heat pump cools the home in summer and runs in reverse to heat it in winter. This Gold series model is multi-speed, so it can run at a gentle low speed most of the time instead of switching fully on and off. That keeps temperatures more even. Indoors, we installed a matching Gold series air handler (the indoor cabinet with the fan that moves air through the ducts), along with electric backup heat for the coldest days.

What We Completed
- Removed the old system and installed the new American Standard Gold series heat pump and matching air handler
- Added electric backup heat for very cold weather
- Installed a Wi-Fi thermostat that can be adjusted from a phone
- Added surge protection to guard the new electronics from power spikes
- Ran a new drain line from the indoor unit
- Started the system and tested both heating and cooling
The Result
The Hackett home now has one system handling both heating and cooling, with a Wi-Fi thermostat and surge protection built in. See more on our Greenwood AC installation page.
What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job
- Multi-speed heat pumps feel steadier. Longer, gentler run times mean fewer hot and cold swings.
- A smart thermostat helps you use the system well. Being able to adjust it from your phone makes it easy to change the setting when you’re away.
- Backup heat matters in a heat pump home. It helps keep the house warm on the coldest nights.
