What we found

This visit focused on the indoor unit, where all of the home’s air passes through. The indoor coil had a layer of dust across its fins, and the blower (the indoor fan wheel) had dust caked onto its blades.

The coil cools and dries the air, and the fan pushes it through every room. When both are coated, the system moves less air and works harder.

What we did

Deep cleaned the indoor coil and gave it an antimicrobial treatment, which helps keep mold and bacteria from growing on it
Took out the indoor fan and cleaned the fan wheel and the housing around it
Installed an ozone free UV air cleaner (an ultraviolet lamp mounted inside the system, in the path of the moving air)

The result
