The job at a glance

  • Town: Fort Smith, AR
  • Service: AC tune-up
  • Technician: Logan

What we found

Two air conditioning systems serve this house, and the equipment is over 15 years old. Logan gave both systems a full tune-up.

His testing turned up three electrical parts that needed replacing. One was the contactor, the switch that turns the outdoor unit on and off. The other two were capacitors, the parts that give a motor its starting kick: one for the compressor (the heart of the outdoor unit) and one for the fan motor. He also found debris packed into an outdoor coil, the part that releases your home’s heat outside. Refrigerant (the fluid that carries heat out of your home) was also low, so he added some. Electrical parts like these wear a little every time a system starts, and years of use add up.

What we did

  • Completed tune-ups on both systems
  • Replaced the contactor
  • Replaced the two capacitors, one for the compressor and one for the fan motor
  • Added refrigerant to bring the level back up

The result

These parts were replaced during a scheduled tune-up instead of after a breakdown. Older equipment can keep running well when parts like these are caught early.
