Older Outdoor AC Swapped Out in Fort Smith, AR (New American Standard AC and Furnace)

At this Fort Smith home, the previous outdoor AC unit sat low on an old concrete slab. Luis and Seth replaced it along with the indoor equipment, giving the homeowner a fully matched American Standard system for both cooling and heating.

What We Installed

Outside, we installed an American Standard Silver series air conditioner, the outdoor unit that moves heat out of the house. Inside the hall closet, we set a new American Standard gas furnace with a matching cooling coil on top. The coil is the part that pulls heat and humidity out of the air, and the furnace provides winter heat while also running the fan that pushes air through the home.

What We Completed

  • Removed the old outdoor unit and set the new air conditioner on a new equipment pad, up off the ground
  • Installed a new gas furnace and matching cooling coil in the hall closet
  • Built a custom metal fitting so the existing ductwork lines up cleanly with the new furnace
  • Ran a new drain line with a clean-out, an easy access point for clearing the line during maintenance
  • Installed an outdoor power shutoff box for safe servicing and ran new thermostat wiring
  • Started the system and confirmed it was heating and cooling properly

The Result

The before and after photos tell the story. The new outdoor unit sits level on a raised pad, and the closet furnace is tidy and easy to reach for filter changes and yearly service. Learn more on our Fort Smith AC installation page.

What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job

  • Look at the outdoor unit once in a while. Rust, bent fins and a unit sinking into the ground are worth having checked.
  • A good fit matters inside, too. Custom duct fittings help the new furnace move air without leaks or extra noise.
  • Ask about a drain clean-out. It makes routine drain cleaning quick and helps prevent water backups.
