This Fort Smith homeowner chose a step up in comfort with a multi-speed American Standard Gold series system. Luis, Seth and Logan completed the replacement, installing new equipment outside and in the attic.
What We Installed
The American Standard Gold series air conditioner is a multi-speed unit. Instead of only running fully on or fully off, it can run at a lower speed most of the time. That keeps room temperatures more even and pulls more moisture out of the air than a basic single-speed unit. Inside, we installed a matching cooling coil, which pulls heat and moisture from the air, and a new gas furnace in the attic that heats the home and moves air through the ducts.

What We Completed
- Removed the old equipment and set the new multi-speed air conditioner outside
- Installed a matching indoor cooling coil and a new gas furnace in the attic
- Added a drain pan with a safety switch that shuts the system down if water backs up, protecting the ceiling below
- Connected the new system and tested it in both cooling and heating
The Result
The homeowner now has a system built to run longer at gentler speeds, which helps even out temperature swings and pull more moisture out on humid days. The drain safety switch adds protection for the ceiling below the attic. Learn more on our Fort Smith AC installation page.
What Homeowners Can Learn From This Job
- Multi-speed systems feel different. They run quieter and longer at low speed, so don’t be surprised if the outdoor unit seems to run more than your old one did.
- Humidity control is part of comfort. A system that runs longer at lower speed pulls more moisture out of the air.
- Attic equipment needs water protection. A safety switch is a simple way to help avoid ceiling damage from a clogged drain.
