What an AC repair visit includes

Then they check that the thermostat is calling for cooling, the indoor fan is running, the outdoor electrical parts are working, the outdoor fan is spinning, and how much cooler the air comes out than it went in. We also check the drain pan and drain line, because a clogged drain can shut the system off or send water onto the floor.

AC problems tend to show up from late spring through early fall, when systems run the most. On older outdoor units, two small parts often wear out after long run times: the capacitor, which helps the motors start, and the contactor, the switch that turns the unit on and off.
